WASH Expert - Orbis International-Ethiopia

Orbis International-Ethiopia is seeking to recruit a qualified WASH Expert for its office in Addis Ababa. The Wash Expert reports to the Rural Program Manager. The main functions consist of, but not limited to the following:
• Build the capacity of Orbis and its partners in technical issues pertinent to the sector. Provide training to partners, government staff and community members in all aspects from design to issues of operation, maintenance and management of water, hygiene and sanitation;
• Ensure adherence in the implementation of water, sanitation and hygiene work to Orbis’s Country Strategy, the annual work plans and partner proposals. Encourage ORBIS and partners to reflect critically on their work and encourage the adoption of Orbis’s principles
• Perform monitoring and reviewing partner sector related activities’ progress and related expenditures, verify authenticity of sector related cash transfer requests. Do regular field visits and provide feedback.
• Keep up to date with developments in the sector, including best practice examples in-country and internationally, and ensure ongoing personal development and learning.
• Participate in the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned.
• Liaise with Federal Ministry of Health and all Orbis stakeholders, partners and networks particularly those relevant to the hygiene and sanitation sub-sector and represent Orbis in policy forums. Collaborate with others to generate quality evidence on hygiene and sanitation in Orbis and its partners’ work.
• Keep up to date with developments in the sector, including best practice examples in-country and internationally, and build and maintain a very strong and very productive relationship with all WASH organizations both GOs and NGOs and mobilizing resources for the sector activities.
• Ensures that Education & Information principles are mainstreamed in all Orbis engagements and influences stakeholders and likeminded organizations to include E&I in their WASH interventions
• Lead, guide and support the Program Manager, Project Managers and Field Coordinators of Orbis’s Rural Projects in WASH related activities.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and interim reports to the Rural Program Manager with copy to the Country Director and the Program director on water supply / activities. In addition to this contribute to the Orbis standard periodic reports
• Carry out other pertinent duties as instructed by the supervisor
QUALIFICATION: BSC in environmental science
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in NGO environment;
• practical work experience in WASH implementation
Skills
• Excellent command of the English language both in writing and speaking
• Proficiency in computer use (Window based Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet)
• Sound Knowledge of Wash development policies and strategies of the country
• Firm belief in teamwork, participatory approach and sustainable development, willingness to work with grass-root level with partners, stakeholders and the beneficiary communities.
• Ability to work and deliver under stressful circumstances; ‘Commitment to values and working styles of Orbis
• Strong analytical skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills with ability to interact and (manage) people of diverse cultural backgrounds
EMPLOYMENT: Long term in line with the organization’s country program
SALARY: As per the Organization’s Scale
Duty Station: Head Office with broad field works that require intensive field travels
