Accountant @ Society for Women and AIDS in Africa-Ethiopia

Society for Women and AIDS in Africa-Ethiopia (SWAA-E) would like to invite qualified and competent applicants for the following vacant position.
Accountant
Major duties /responsibility:
- Making sure that all payments are approved & attach the appropriate documents or back up are completed for making payments.
- Maintain all financial files with vouchers & supporting documents.
- Check budget lines to insure that all transactions are correctly booked to the correct budget line.
- Prepare checks and vouchers for any payment in line with the appropriate budget & organization financial manual.
- Ensure that all financial transaction is compliant with local laws, donor regulations & internal policies.
- Monitor expenditure of petty cash & ensure the appropriate records are up-to-date.
- Review completeness of petty cash and payment request prepared & requested by cashier & employee of organization respectively.
- Check all goods purchase & service obtained against purchase requisition and the budget allocated to them.
- Maintain an inventory file to support purchase of all equipment.
- Post all entries to Peachtree accounting software after getting them reviewed & approved by Finance & Admin. & Executive Director.
- Proper keeping of fixed asset register and other records and make them up to date for any addition or deduction that may happen.
- Prepare monthly payroll & bank reconciliation.
- Prepare & submit quarterly financial report based on donor requirement & format along with their general journal & bank reconciliation.
- Ensures all government taxes & other obligation are deducted and paid on time.
- Assist in preparation of budget
- Prepare, compile, submit & document quarterly & annual financial report according to the organizations financial policy & procedures.
- Closing accounts, preparation of document & financial statement for auditing process.
- Perform other duties directed by Finance & Admin. & Executive Director.
Essential Qualification:
- Peachtree knowledge & application is strictly mandatory
- Well trained & experience in closing accounts, preparation of document & financial statement for auditing process.
- Ability to work on own initiative under minimum supervision & independently.
- Ability to work flexible including weekends
- Ability to work in a team
- Strong organizational & time management skill to meet deadlines
Education & Work Experience:
- B.A in accounting with a minimum of 3 years NGO experience
- Duty station: - Addis Ababa
- Salary: - Negotiable
- Terms of Employment: - Contingent up on performance
