Position Responsibilities:
ASLM seeks a part-time, unpaid Communications Intern (multiple hires) to be part of a larger network of field writers. The Intern will assist with development of web-based news articles, promotional content and related materials to advance the overall ASLM mission and ASLM2020 strategic vision objectives. Content is typically oriented toward laboratory-related issues with an emphasis on public health and/or scientific impact.
Under the guidance and direction of the Senior Communications Officer, the Intern may be responsible for the following (actual assignments depend on experience):
• Draft original news articles or stories, based on subject matter provided by ASLM staff. • Review, edit and/or translate materials drafted by others. • Management of social media platforms. • Other responsibilities may be incorporated depending on need.
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
• Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant communications field, e.g., journalism, public relations. • Experience writing concise, targeted materials related to laboratory or public health subjects. • Possess strong English-language writing skills; candidates with writing (or translating) skills in Arabic, French and Portuguese are encouraged to apply.
